In the Michoácan region in Mexico, the growing avocado industry has become the new business crave of the Cartels. While environmental activists are fighting for their survival, through the survival of their forests and water sources, Avocado producers try to create a better balance in the industry, while being forced to deal with the Narcos.
Green Gold deep dives into the complex and two faced conflict of Michoácan's avocado business: an ecological catastrophe followed by an explosion of violence, but also a great opportunity to create works and rebuild the region's economy.
